Gardens

Gardening is something I hate. All I do with mine is cut the grass. I feel that I need to keep the lawn in front of the house tidy in deference to my neighbours

I am impressed with the amount of work and the final result of those of my neighbours. It is something I considered doing soon after I purchased my house. I decided early on that I couldn’t guarantee I would keep up the work in the years to come.

Another obvious advantage is for drying clothes, something difficulty in flats. I see many racks on flbalconies around Dublin. Better than nothing I guess.

I am sure that many flat owners particularly those with small children would love a garden. The extra space would allow them to play without being under their parents’ feet. Sure there are green areas around some flat blocks where children can play. The disadvantage is they are some way from the flat and the parents must be close by for security reasons.

On fine days in the summer I have sat outside on my patio.

Many of my neighbours’ garden have been taken over by wooden sheds for use as offices set up in the Corvid 19 crisis. How many of these were still in use particularly over the winter I don’t know.
